I directed my Master’s studies towards developing a framework for games that strive to deliver meaningful and fulfilling experiences, called the Benevolent Game Matrix, whilst managing full-time employment to support my studies. The purpose of this framework is to provide a tool for aiding research, in examining the ways in which existing games accommodate positive psychological effects for the player; but also, to support and assist in the design and development of games which seek to provide such an environment. The proposition paper for this framework can be found here, on the Research Gate website.

My undergraduate course taught me a wide range of skills across every discipline of game development, from 2D asset creation to full rigging and animation in 3D; from writing code in C# to full game design documentation; it also sparked my passion for the psychology behind good game design, and I based my dissertation on the potential beneficial utility of game transfer phenomena.
